For the Project Sewn, if the shoe fits challenge I got out a pair of favorite, but not often worn shoes. I thought a gold dress to go with gold sandals, using this delicious brocade that I bought from Tessuti a while ago, called coffee gelato.

This is the first time I’ve made a By Hand London Elisalex in its entirety. I’ve made the bodice before and had made a number of muslins. I used the Elisalex bodice for my wedding dress.

I lined the bodice in a beige cotton, it looks a bit like calico but it’s actaully better quality than that, so I was a bit dissapointed about how it looks. I also used it for the pockets, how good are pockets in a fancy dress? I only just had enough material so it’s a little shorter than I would normally have. If I make the elisalex using the timorese handwoven material I got recently, I’ll make it a little longer. Too eek out as much length as I could I used bias binding on the hem. I’ve got a bit of a thing for gigham look bias and found this gold version that I thought would be pretty.
