It took me forever to find a tessuti (fabric) shop in Como, but when I did it was heaven. (It always gives my fluent Italian speaking friend a chuckle when I tell her I’ve bought fabric from Tessuti.)
There was a whole wall of silks, all made locally, many gorgeous boucles, a wall of wool, another of cotton and linen. It was so hard to choose.
This is what I came away with. A pink and sea green boucle and a perfectly coordinating Italian silk to line it.
I’d really appreciate suggestions for a jacket pattern. For this fabric I’ll stray from my usual impatience and make a muslin. Definitely make a muslin or two before cutting into this little beauty.
Ginger Makes recently reviewed a whole lot of jackets and coats. The Pauline Alice Ninot jacket is very cute, though not necessarily a style that would suit me.
I’m considering the Vogue 8804. It looks amazing, though extremely challenging. What do you think? I have Vogue 8991 in my stash, it looks similar and is also a Claire Shaeffer, though not sure about the collar. Finding or making the braid will be an issue, also the chain. But worth it. I don’t know if either would suit me or if there’s another that may suit the lovely French boucle.
I’m just hoping that I’ll have enough fabric, it’s such a long way to go to get more, though I’d be back there in a twinkling if I could, such a beautiful place and a beautiful tessuti shop.
