My daughter loves sparkles and sequins and glitter. No she’s not 6, she’s 20 something. We spotted an amazing sparkly skirt and top in little shop in a Melbourne laneway. I can make that! I love wandering in those laneways.
Sequins at the moment seem to be giant (a la Burberry) or baby. (Have you seen this Burberry skirt, amazing! as is the price-tag)
So baby sequins it is. I was just going to make a skirt but oooh there was enough left for a few sparkles on a top.
Cutting out with sequined fabric isn’t fun. Neither is sewing sequin fabric come to think of it. Sequins everywhere…..only one broken needle later….
I made a simple pencil skirt, darts front and back and an invisible zip on the side. The skirt is lined, because, well this sequin fabric isn’t the best quality. No irons thanks, we’ll melt. I finished the waist with fold-over elastic.
The top is a basic tank, made with some bamboo jersey scraps from the stash and what was left of the sequins, so that’s officially scrap-busting!
Don’t know that it really works as a set, maybe it should have been a crop top. Still, I’m still claiming it as a setacular and of course they can always be worn a seperates.
So here you have a sequin #twopiecesetacular…..see you on the dance floor, or rather see my darling daughter on the dance floor… won’t miss her…
