another Liberty shirt for Simon

Have I mentioned before how much I love sewing with Liberty?barbara jane made Liberty fabric

I do love the fabric, a tana lawn* beautiful saturated colours and detail, all hallmark Liberty.

This design is called Darby, based on a painting by an art student and decscribed by Liberty as having ‘decadent Deco aesthetic’. So satisfying to sew with. Presses beautifully.

Not much to say about this shirt. I’ve made it before here in another Liberty and here in raw silk. It’s Colette’s Walden Negroni shirt.

I added about 5 cm added to the length of the shirt body and the sleeves. Next time I’ll make a couple more fit alterations. The neck and cuffs could be a bit larger. I also made it a mandarin collar for something a bit different.

A mans shirt, my excuse to sew with Liberty, do you have things you love to use Liberty for?

*This info. on tana lawn is from the Liberty website: taking its name from Lake Tana in East Africa where the original cotton grew. Made from ultra-fine long staple cotton and finished without the use of crease-resisting chemicals, ‘a masterpiece of fabric technology: fine, cool, comfortable and durable, with brilliant reproduction of colours and prints’.

  1. I am becoming increasingly guilty about not making shirts for my husband whose wardrobe is pretty ragged. Love this shirt and only wish I could persuade my dearest to wear a print.

love to hear from you.................
