My first Named pattern and I like it. This is the Saunio cardigan.
Worn here with my linen Sophie dress.
This fabric, has been marinating in the stash for nearly a year. It’s from Alla Moda in Brisbane, what a divine shop! It is a silk taffeta, stitched and sequinned in a large free-wheeling floral pattern. I bought it with no idea what I’d do with it. I think Saunio is perfect for it.
I found this a quick and easy make. Mind you I did forget to add the seam allowances. Luckily being over-sized anyway it was ok in the body. The sleeves were another story. I had to add a strip of fabric, dohhh.
Lucikly the busy fabric hides this when its worn, I hope 🙂
What I like: the simple, modern shape, perfect to show off interesting fabric. A great transeasonal top to throw on over a dress.
Modifications: None, other than forgetting to add the seam allowance, so added a strip of fabric to the under-sleeve.
Fabric: embroidered silk from Alla Moda
Pattern: Saunio cardigan by Named

Have you got a pattern go-to for fabric that speaks for itself? Do tell.
I bought another small piece of amazing fabric at All Moda – linen and tulle!!!! and even a sequin or two! but what to do with it??? a skirt, a cardi, part of something, what do you think??
Happy sewing all 🙂
