another in season silk

Another from the Tessuti #inseasonsilkcomp!  Now over, big congratulations to the winners including Debbie and Rachel!

I couldn’t decide which silk de chine I liked best, soooo…………..I’ll threw my hat into the ring again, and the leaves into the air…………….tmp_4771-20160427_170630_002750431629

This Style Arc is a flowing kaftan style.

I used French seams throughout, makes it so pretty and comfortable on the inside. I should have done a quick FBA by lengthening the bodice by a few cms, but I didn’t, consequently the waist sits way too high. Because of this I didn’t add the self-tie at the waist. A belt added at the real waist works, and the busy fabric hides the position of the waist casing 🙂bjmade style arc.jpeg

I love the whole process of beading…pity there’s not more call for it in everyday clothes.

I used tiny beads on the sleeves…

And lots of beads, including some square Japanese’s lovelies (from Maria’s beads and trims in Melbourne), on the neck-band. tmp_4771-20160427_0737251281732530It’s amazing how different the dress looks in different light, a silky chameleon.

Have you got any autumn or spring sewing plans?
