I couldn’t decide which silk de chine I liked best, soooo…………..I’ll threw my hat into the ring again, and the leaves into the air…………….
I used French seams throughout, makes it so pretty and comfortable on the inside. I should have done a quick FBA by lengthening the bodice by a few cms, but I didn’t, consequently the waist sits way too high. Because of this I didn’t add the self-tie at the waist. A belt added at the real waist works, and the busy fabric hides the position of the waist casing 🙂
I love the whole process of beading…pity there’s not more call for it in everyday clothes.
I used tiny beads on the sleeves…
And lots of beads, including some square Japanese’s lovelies (from Maria’s beads and trims in Melbourne), on the neck-band. It’s amazing how different the dress looks in different light, a silky chameleon.
All these photos were taken just as the sun was setting, the autumn tones come out with with the light falling on the dress, the mauve tones in the suns shadow.
Have you got any autumn or spring sewing plans?
