I tried a pattern with draping for the first time and I like it. This is the Style Arc Billie top. It’s just one piece of fabric ! (and one facing). It looks so strange as you cut it out. Then suddenly it makes sense and suddenly it looks so elegant.
For this one I used a viscose crepe that I had earmarked for a dress. Purchased from the Fabric Store, I can’t decided if it’s lavender or grey. I’ll go lavender.
I like the asymmetry and the drape. With one main pattern piece and one side seam, it’s a very quick make.
I liked it so much I made another.
This one in a cotton jersey with a painterly black stripe, a remnant from Addicted 2 Fabric.
Worn here with black velvet Barb pants (also Style Arc) and Bared Shoes. I might even get brave enough to try some of the Japanese drape patterns. Sew Busy Lizzy is so inspiring with her many draped creations, like this T-shirt.
Have you tried Japanese drape patterns? any tips with the tracing? How does the sizing go? Have you tried scaling them up?
